An in-depth lesson in traditional Sri Lankan mask making

Hosted by an award-winning local artist and expert craftsman, this intimate workshop takes place at a nearby atelier. The experience begins with an introduction to the history, symbolism, and cultural significance of Kolam masks, followed by a demonstration of traditional carving techniques using age-old tools.

You can choose to carve a mask from scratch, paint a pre-carved mask using natural pigments made from clay, plants, and minerals, or carve and paint your own mask.
For a more relaxed experience, you can opt to do it at Fort Bazaar with a knowledgeable craftsman.
