Vesak marks the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Lord Buddha. During this sacred time, devotees across the country craft colourful lanterns, which they illuminate and hang outside their homes. Almost every Sri Lankan has grown up making one of these beautiful, handcrafted lanterns.

In this hands-on activity, our staff will share their Vesak lantern making techniques with your child, demonstrating how these elegant lanterns are crafted and decorated before inviting them to join in sticking, pasting, and personalising their own lantern. Sri Lankans are also expert kite makers so if your child would prefer to make a kite instead, please inquire about the availability of this with one of the team.
